DELIRIUM: The Rimbaud Delusion

A novel set in France following the progress of the lost Rimbaud manuscript of La Chasse Spirituelle.See full paperback cover of Delirium: The Rimbaud Delusion.

Andrea Mann, an avid fan of the French Symbolist poet, Arthur Rimbaud, visits his home town of Charleville to recover from the breakup of her affair with Patsy.

After meeting an attractive youth who believes he is a reincarnation of Rimbaud, and whom she nicknames Rimboy, she becomes embroiled in a manipulative relationship with a man known only as Albert. Albert claims to have discovered the lost manuscript of Rimbaud’s long prose poem, La Chasse Spirituelle.

Intertwined with the main narrative, and told through diaries, letters, blogs and other devices, is the story of the manuscript itself. This begins with the explosive love affair between the poets, Rimbaud and Paul Verlaine and includes an account of how the poem was originally misplaced. These stories are told by Rimbaud himself and, in counterpoint, by Verlaine’s wife, Mathilde.

"The hunt for the spiritual in the guise of a search for the missing, and possibly non-existent, manuscript of La Chasse Spirituelle."

Delirum: The Rimbaud Delusion was published in association with Triskele Books in 2014.
